Very Peri, a delightful periwinkle lilac/blue with warm undertones is Pantone colour of the year 2022.  https://www.pantone.com/uk/en/color-of-the-year-2022-palette-explorationThis beautiful shade is redolent with suggestions of periwinkles, the sea, and love. According to Pantone’s Vice President it has a ‘spirited, joyous, attitude.’ Which is exactly what couples choosing a celebrant ceremony have.

Consider ribbons for a handfasting ceremony incorporating all the beautiful accompanying shades to periwinkle blue. Or pick out the colours to sprinkle through your styling.

Complimentary colour palettes for ‘Very Peri’ have evocative names such as ‘amusement’, ‘star of the show’, ‘wellspring’, and ‘balancing act’.

All of which can beautifully be used in your wedding styling from your outfits to your table plans. Moreover, the very strength in these evocative words speak of modern couples and what tending elements they may want to incorporate into their wedding day.

Stargazing and oceans – Celestial and Pearl

Full of mythology, classical imagery and always downright evocative  a celestial themed wedding is a big trend for 2022. And of course it can make a seriously sexy statement.

This wedding trend can be used equally well inside or outside, upmarket or on a  budget. The stars, sky and moon are always around us, they never fail to enchant us, so no wonder they are a massive trend for 2022.  Imagine a twilight wedding ceremony, as the stars come out, your guests holding sparklers or your venue dressed with twinkly star shaped fairy lights?

Outside venues, such as the wonderful Higher Holcombe https://higherholcombe.co.uk/ would be perfect for a celestial inspired wedding theme. The clear Devon sky, offers celestial  inspiration in abundance as the night sky twinkles over their woodland venue.

What could be more romantic than pearls?

The Victorians  used Pearls in jewellery to symbolize love and in 2022 they still evoke feelings of romance and mystery. Pearls connection with the sea, their translucent beauty and their versatility, all combine to put them high on the guide for wedding trends in 2022. ~Taking one of the oldest of wedding  traditions, can often be the best, and using pearls at your wedding  is no exception.  Todays innovative designers are incorporating them into wedding styling, dresses, accessories and illustration, yet all with a contemporary twist.

Hats and headdresses are on trend, but are they just for the ladies?

Headdresses are continuing to be a massive trend for 2022, with designers, such as the award-winning accessories designer Heidi, from ‘Glorious by Heidi’  https://www.gloriousbyheidi.com/ creating sparkly, bespoke, celestial inspired headdresses. Heidi’s headdress can be worn after your wedding as a necklace, creating a sustainable heirloom piece of jewellery and making them even more covetable.

Men should also look out for headwear, as modern grooms are embracing the idea of bright headbands or full-on crowns.

Why should it all be about the ladies? This guide to wedding trends is totally inclusive and lets face it, men look fabulous in headwear!

Consider incorporating crowns into your wedding ceremony. Historically many cultures and religions have symbolic headwear in their ceremonies and your celebrant can offer unique, evocative ideas for a fusion-based crown ceremony as part of your wedding.

Why is entertainment on a wedding trend guide?

2022 is set to be the year when couples are booking different and creative entertainment for their weddings. Increasingly at sequel weddings (a term used to describe the big joyous wedding celebrations, after the small more intimate weddings held during the pandemic) wedding suppliers can offer a whole range of experiences from singing waiters, drag acts, cabaret or photo booths.

The popular vintage camper booth company  https://www.vintagecamperbooths.co.uk/ offer a pop up bar in a VW camper van, glitter sessions and many more experiences. Or even a  retro sitting room with a digital camera hidden in an old TV set to photograph your guests as they dress up in props.

Is illustration just for the invitations in 2022?

Illustrated wedding stationery is something 2022 weddings will be seeing a lot of. Guides to wedding trends are showing illustrators  offering suites of stationery incorporating bespoke illustration.  Why not have fun and use this trend as a reason to celebrate your wedding with unique, bespoke stationery which can be kept as a memory afterwards?

One fun way to use your illustrated stationery (or any design) would be to include an order of service for your celebrant led ceremony combining your illustrations. You could then have readings or even songs for your guests to sing along to.

Incorporating wedding trends does not mean that you have to forget your values, as engaged couples in 2022 are increasingly looking for their wedding day to reflect their life choices. 2022 weddings which incorporate sustainable elements into all, or at least part, of their wedding day are leading the way and is fast becoming a huge part of wedding planning for todays engaged couples. The Boho Bride guide  https://www.thebohobrideguide.com/ and Magpie weddings are just two of the online wedding guides to check out for lists of wedding suppliers who adhere to high standards of sustainability and  ethical values.

Highly on trend for 2022 is the popularity of buying or hiring preloved wedding outfits or/and table styling. What’s not to love bout this trend? Sustainable and good for your budget.

The 2022 trend for tea parties

Pinterest, an online search platform  with a huge output of wedding inspiration, annually forecast their yearly trend watch.  One exciting and continuing  trend for 2022 is tea parties and outside parties. Perfect for a 2022 wedding couple who may want to consider hiring in vintage China for their wedding. This is such a gorgeous  sustainable  option and if you have your wedding outside at a local venue or even at home you’ll be able to style your wedding space exactly how you want.   And of course, your celebrant can perform the ceremony anywhere and if you like, even incorporate a tea ceremony.

Embracing memories for your wedding day is a big trend for 2022.

The Pandemic should not be in a wedding trend guide! However, there is one thing has showed us….

The importance of those we love being with us, either in person or in another way, is of upmost importance for so many couples on their wedding day. If you had a small intimate ceremony during the pandemic and now want a bigger day, celebrating with all your loved ones, it is possible to still include loved ones who cannot be with you or are no longer with you, except in your  heart and memory.

Your wedding celebrant can help with ideas to incorporate people into your wedding ceremony. Photographs can be used, symbolism, favourite objects, crafts, hobbies, music. The joy and beauty of having a celebrant conduct your wedding ceremony is that they will be there for you to help you include your memories of loved ones. Or bring those who cannot attend due to travel restrictions into your ceremony with words, zoom or other unique contributions.

The wedding ceremony, why is that in this trend guide?

The UK Law Commission is to review proposals for updates on UK and Welsh weddings outdated marriage laws which date back to 1836. Currently there are tight and restrictive laws dictating how and where couples are allowed, in law, to legally marry. The scripts for marriage are approved and impersonal. Most importantly, and profoundly biased, is the lack of provision for couples who wish to express their own beliefs in their marriage service. If they do not wish to marry legally in an Anglican Church or by a registrar in a secular, approved venue, there is currently no other choice.

The Give Couples choice movement and the UK wedding law Commission  are campaigning diligently to effect these changes. They should be heard in parliament in 2022. choosing a celebrant shows that couples are backing change, they are being themselves, adhering to their beliefs and values. And they are being individuals.

Hopefully this trend, for unique, bespoke wedding ceremonies will continue to grow and the UK law will ultimately and beneficially change, modernise and be fully reflective of our society.  The trend will grow to use celebrants to reflect contemporary marriages and couples who want their wedding ceremony to reflect their values and their beliefs.

How we legalise and celebrate our love should not be a trend, but a right. ❤❤❤❤❤

What will a Funeral Celebrant ask?

A funeral celebrant will ask you many questions. How they do so, and what they ask is an indication of whether or not you feel comfortable with them. If you consider that they are ultimately the person who you are trusting, in a period of grief and confusion, to write and officiate the service of a loved one, then that person should be the ideal choice for you.
